St. James School is an environment where faith, family, and educational excellence reinforce one another throughout the school day. SJS exists to provide a learning environment that fosters academic excellence while guiding our children’s developing relationship with God in accordance with the teachings of our Catholic faith.
Our teachers and staff are sensitive to the educational and individual needs of each student. We know a child’s sense of self-esteem must be nurtured so each child feels worthwhile and confident. Only then can a child be challenged to grow and perform to the maximum of his or her potential. Because we work within the structure of a Catholic community, we add an important dimension to our students’ outlook. We strive to develop within each one of them concern and compassion for the world they share, and the competence they need to fully manage responsibility in this ever changing fast paced society.
Why St. James School?
There is a feeling at St. James School that one cannot express in words. While the school building is always being updated with the newest technology and ideas, it is the people present – children, parents, faculty, and staff – that are the draw. Enthusiasm, helpfulness, joy, competence, and a fullness of faith are some of the qualities you notice in everyday interactions.
What we teach, and how we teach matters; who is teaching often times is the tipping point toward success. Teaching is so much broader than just transmitting knowledge and skills. Because of this belief, children are treasured and thrive at St. James School.
Our graduates reflect this. They excel scholastically, have a strong work ethic, and are sought after both academically and professionally for their leadership skills. They involve themselves in their communities, thank God for His goodness, and know how to shake hands and look someone in the eye from years of greeting me, our Parish Priests, our administrators, and staff each day. The opportunity to witness this transformation from innocence to virtue and excellence makes St. James School extraordinary.
St. James School is dedicated to partnering with parents in modeling Christ for our children. We strive to provide a foundation from which students recognize and develop
- Their personal relationship with God
- An academic culture of meaningful and lifelong learning
- Tools to shape beliefs, morals, and practices driven by Gospel values
We are called to walk in faith, live in hope, and act in love.
FAITH St. James School strives to provide a foundation of faith and awareness that Christ is always present. The school families are united in prayer, worship, and service with all parish ministries, to be on fire with Jesus, and carry His teachings within as well as far beyond the walls of our parish community.
EXCELLENCE St. James School strives to unlock a child’s gifts and talents within a rigorous curriculum directed toward teaching the whole child. The school seeks to foster each child’s capacity for success, developing skills and competencies needed for the 21st Century. A safe and nurturing environment allows for the development of the attributes of curiosity, independence, collaboration, and articulate communication.
LEADERSHIP St. James School strives to empower students to develop their moral compass in accordance with the Gospel teachings. Students are trained to demonstrate confidence, courage, and perseverance in the face of societal pressures. With their families, St. James School seeks to grow independent thinkers who are proud to be the face of Jesus to the world.
SERVICE St. James School strives for students to grow in their awareness of the larger world and the need to develop a service mentality in order to bring Christ to others. Our goal is to inspire the intrinsic desire possessed by all students and promote faith in action.
Graduates of SJS acquire Catholic moral and spiritual values that enable them to live responsibly, are empowered with the necessary academic skills, enabling them to contribute to their community and further their own education, develop the personal resources to cope with and respond to the complexities of modern society in a Catholic manner, and develop a positive image of themselves and their various roles in society.
