Each day your child will bring home their Word Study notebook to work on their weekly word list and homework activities. This will help your child prepare for the weekly Word Study assessment. Explanations of the activities are found on the inside cover of their notebook.
To improve reading fluency and comprehension, have your child read aloud for 20 minutes each day. They should complete the Reading Record indicating the book, minutes read, and a book rating with explanation. Students will receive a new reading goal each week.
Practice… practice… practice math facts! Set a timer for one minute and challenge your child to meet or exceed their Rocket Math goal. Memorizing addition and subtraction facts will help them soar!

Welcome back to school!
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer. I am very excited to meet my new students on Tuesday. I look forward to working together this year as our second graders grow physically, academically, and spiritually! Second grade is a “magical” year, so get ready to make new friends, pray, and learn great things.
